Terms & Conditions
The short version
- A grown-up (18+) agrees to these terms on behalf of the household, and there is nothing to pay.
- Children play outdoors, so a responsible adult is in charge of supervision — the app helps, but it cannot see your street.
- Identification is a helpful guess, not a scientific determination, even with the AI second look. Never rely on it for anything safety-critical.
- There is no account — progress lives against an anonymous Explorer ID, which has consequences worth reading (§3).
- Don't break the app, resell it, or use it to harm anyone.
This summary isn't a substitute for the sections below — those are the agreement.
1. The agreement
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and [Legal entity name], registered in India at [registered address, Gurugram, Haryana, India] ("WonderSpy", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the WonderSpy mobile application, the wonderspy.app website and any related services (together, the "Service").
By downloading, accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into them by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Who may use WonderSpy
The Service is designed for children, used with a grown-up's knowledge. However:
- Only a person who is 18 years or older and has the legal capacity to enter into a contract may agree to these Terms and install the app for a child.
- By installing it you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of every child who will play, or that you have that person's authority to act.
- You agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and of each child who plays on your device, and you are responsible for their use of the Service.
- Children may not accept these Terms themselves.
3. No account, and what follows from that
WonderSpy has no sign-up, no password and no login. The app creates an anonymous Explorer ID on the device and stores progress against it. Two consequences follow, and we would rather state them than have you discover them:
- Progress is tied to that ID, not to you. Deleting and reinstalling the app, or moving to a new phone, generally creates a new Explorer ID, and the previous progress can no longer be reached. We cannot restore it, because we have no name or email to match it to.
- The Explorer ID is how we find your data. If you ask us to show or delete what we hold, quote it — see Privacy Policy §12. Without it we cannot identify your records.
Anyone with access to the device can play under that Explorer ID. The app is not a security boundary between members of a household.
4. Your licence to use the app
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to download and use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial family use.
This licence does not permit you to, and you agree not to: copy, modify, translate or create derivative works of the app; reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits this notwithstanding a contractual restriction; remove or obscure any proprietary notice; rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense or redistribute it; use it for any commercial, institutional or classroom purpose without a separate licence from us; or use automated means to access, scrape or interact with the Service.
5. What it costs
WonderSpy is free today. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, no advertising and nothing anywhere in the app that costs money — and no price, shop or upsell on any screen a child can reach.
An in-app purchase for Wonder Coins is planned for a later version (§6). When it arrives, these Terms and the Privacy Policy will be updated before it goes live, every purchase screen will sit behind the parent gate, and nothing a child has already earned will be taken away or made purchasable-only.
6. Wonder Coins and in-game items
Wonder Coins, Wonder Badges, Explorer Titles, WonderCards, WonderNuts and any cosmetic items are a licensed part of the Service, not property. They have no monetary value and no value outside the app, and cannot be sold, transferred, exchanged or redeemed for anything of value. We may adjust earning rates, caps and balancing as part of ordinary game design.
Today Wonder Coins are earned through play only and cannot be bought. A later version is expected to offer them as an in-app purchase through the Apple App Store. If and when that ships, purchase screens will sit behind the parent gate, Apple will be the merchant of record, these Terms will be updated first, and coins bought or earned will still carry no monetary value and no right to a cash refund from us.
7. Outdoor play, supervision and safety
This section matters more than any other in this document. Please read it.
WonderSpy encourages children to go outdoors and look at the real world. We design missions to be completable safely: no mission requires a child to approach an animal, a road, water or a stranger; wildlife missions are observed from a distance; street missions are completable from a balcony, window or footpath; outdoor missions check for daylight; and the app interrupts play with look-up reminders rather than letting a child walk head-down.
These are design safeguards, not supervision. The app cannot see your street, the weather, the traffic or the people around your child. We make no claim to detect hazards through the camera, and we do not attempt to. You remain solely responsible for deciding when, where and with whom your child plays, and for supervising them appropriately for their age and your surroundings.
Do not use the Service while driving, cycling, crossing a road, or in any situation that requires your attention. Obey local laws, private property rules, and any restrictions in parks, sanctuaries and protected areas. Do not disturb, feed, chase or handle wildlife, and do not pick or taste plants.
8. Time limits
This version of WonderSpy does not enforce its own daily time limits, session lengths or quiet hours. Missions are short by design — typically one to five minutes — and the app is built to end sessions rather than extend them, but nothing in it stops a child playing on. If you want an enforced limit, iOS Screen Time can set one for WonderSpy under Settings › Screen Time › App Limits. We say this here so that the absence is a stated fact rather than something you find out later.
9. Accuracy of recognition and facts
WonderSpy does not identify whatever it is pointed at and is not a field guide. Each mission names one thing in advance, and the app judges whether a photograph is that thing. That judgement is a guess, not a determination. It will sometimes be wrong — both by rejecting a correct find and by accepting an incorrect one — and the app says so when it is unsure rather than asserting something false.
Do not rely on WonderSpy to determine whether a plant, fungus, insect or animal is safe to touch, approach or eat, or for any medical, veterinary, legal, scientific, conservation or other consequential purpose. Educational facts on WonderCards are written for children and simplified accordingly. If something matters, check it with a qualified source.
10. AI-assisted checking
Some missions ask for a specific thing — a named flower, bird, vehicle or object. When the app's first look is not certain, it asks Apple Intelligence to look at the same photograph together with what the mission asked for, and to answer whether they match. You should understand three things about this:
- It is Apple's service, not ours. The photograph and what the mission asked for are passed to Apple Intelligence. Apple determines whether that is answered on your phone or on Apple's own secure servers, and Apple's own terms and privacy policy govern it. The photograph is never sent to us, and we receive only a yes or no and a hint to show.
- It is not authoritative, and it does not name things. It is asked only whether the photograph matches the mission's stated target. Its answer is one input; the game's own rules decide whether a find counts. It can be wrong in both directions — accepting something it shouldn't, or rejecting something it should have allowed.
- It is not always available. These missions need a phone that supports Apple Intelligence and are simply not offered on phones that do not — or when the phone is too busy, too hot or saving battery, or when the answer does not arrive in time. What Apple Intelligence can do, and where it does it, is determined by Apple and may change without notice to us.
Nothing generated by the model is shown to your child. Children see only copy written by us in advance.
11. Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to permit anyone using the app to:
- use the Service unlawfully, or to harass, endanger, photograph or track any person without their consent;
- photograph another person's child, or any individual who has not agreed to take part;
- trespass, enter restricted areas, or break local rules in order to complete a mission;
- interfere with, probe, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or any related system;
- cheat, exploit bugs, or use modified clients, emulators or automation to gain progress or rewards;
- circumvent the parent gate or any safety interruption;
- use the Service to build a competing product, or to train a machine-learning model;
- submit abusive, unlawful or personal-data-bearing content through the feedback form.
12. Your content, photographs and feedback
Photographs your child takes in WonderSpy are yours. They are analysed and stored on your device and are not uploaded to us — see Privacy Policy §6. We claim no ownership of them and acquire no licence to them.
If you send us feedback through the app or by email, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it for the purpose you sent it — answering you, and improving the product. We will not publish it or use it in marketing without your separate, explicit permission. Ideas and suggestions may be used without obligation or compensation to you; please don't send us anything you consider confidential.
13. Our intellectual property
The Service and everything in it — the software, artwork, mascot character Pebble Scout, mission and WonderLand names, WonderCards, badges, Explorer Titles, text and sound, and the names and logos WonderSpy, WonderCard, WonderNut, Wonder Book, WonderLands and Pebble Scout — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright, trade mark and other laws. Except for the limited licence in section 4, no rights are granted to you.
14. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available and working, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features, missions, WonderLands or the Service as a whole. Missions may be added, changed or withdrawn — including because a mission fails our own safety checks — and a mission may disappear from your child's phone the next time the app updates its list for that reason.
The Service requires a compatible device. Core play works offline; syncing progress and receiving new content do not.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app, and you may ask us to delete the data held against your Explorer ID by writing to support@wonderspy.app with that ID — see Privacy Policy §12.
We may suspend or terminate access for an Explorer ID that materially breaches these Terms, that we reasonably believe is being used unlawfully or to endanger a child, or where we are required to by law.
Sections 9 to 13 and 16 to 21 survive termination.
16. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and except for warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that identification results will be accurate, that content will be error-free, or that the Service will meet your requirements.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these Terms do not affect.
17. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or relating to the Service, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility.
Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to it in any 12-month period will not exceed ₹5,000 (or its local equivalent).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
18. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or of the rights of a third party — including any claim relating to your supervision of a child during outdoor play.
19. Apple App Store terms
The following applies where you obtained the app from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your use of the app must comply with the App Store Terms of Service.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (which, the app being free, is nil). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability, regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection claims.
- Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling or discharging any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you.
20. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts at Gurugram, Haryana, India have exclusive jurisdiction — except that, if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections and the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
Before starting formal proceedings, please write to support@wonderspy.app. Most things are faster to fix than to litigate, and we would rather fix them.
21. General
Changes. We may update these Terms. We will change the date and version at the top, and for material changes we will surface the change in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service afterwards constitutes acceptance; if you do not accept, you may stop using it.
Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service and replace any earlier understanding.
Severability. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the provision is modified to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable.
No waiver. Not enforcing a right straight away does not waive it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
Force majeure. Neither party is liable for failure to perform caused by events outside its reasonable control.
